The issue of low product availability stems from our testing regulations. Testing labs now test for all pesticides that are available, but not approved for use on cannabis. In fact, there are no pesticides (except for natural organic substances) that have been approved for the use on cannabis. As a result, Oregon will produce cannabis that is the cleanest in the nation, as no other state tests for these chemicals.
However, such extensive testing requires the addition of expensive lab equipment, a larger quantity of product sample to test, and more time to process. This created an increase in testing costs, and a clout in the labs due to slower testing procedures. What is affecting the industry the most is the cost of obtaining a certified test result. What before used to be a $100 test, it is now $450; what used to require a 3 gram sample is now more. This affects small growers, particularly. And, this is an issue common to both uses of marijuana: Medical and Recreational, as they both are tested the same way.
We are now starting to see more producers and processors come online with tested products, and we hope that within the next two weeks we will be able to bring the stock up to The Farmacy standards, to provide you with an ample selection for you to enjoy.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
